Overview of industrial furniture, basic requirements

To equip jobs, industrial furniture is required, the choice of which should be given special attention. Outdated equipment is replaced annually with new equipment, which contributes to increased labor productivity.

Features

Furniture for equipping modern industrial enterprises is workbenches, tables, metal cabinets and modules. Its operating conditions differ from ordinary ones, this is due to the fact that such furniture is exposed to the negative factors of the technological process, and therefore it is produced in the corresponding version.

Furniture for industrial premises is most often made of metal, and any other materials can be used for inserts. At the design stage, operating conditions that do not meet the standards are taken into account, as a result, furniture can be used in the following adverse conditions:

  • exposure to aggressive environments;
  • temperature changes;
  • mechanical effects;
  • precipitation.

Furniture for industrial premises is different from household furniture. To ensure comfortable working conditions, employees acquire special equipment.

The features of such furniture include:

  • application in the manufacture of high-strength materials, namely, metal to withstand shock loads;
  • lack of need for decorations, with the exception of furniture used in dressing rooms;
  • mandatory implementation of standards in the manufacture;
  • for storage of material values, locks or other devices for locking are built into furniture;
  • when using furniture in fire hazardous conditions, they use fireproof materials;
  • the design feature of furniture must meet safety standards.

Equipping with furniture is necessary for enterprises, workshops, including wardrobes. Metal cabinets and workbenches are often found in garages. Furniture production is carried out by machine shops specializing in this area.

Varieties

Industrial metal furniture is used to store tools, accessories, workpieces and parts. It allows you not to clutter up jobs and walkways.

Types of furniture designs:

  • work tables and workbenches. They are necessary for the process of assembling parts, applying markings, gluing along the routes of the technological process. They involve the placement of a vise, small dimensions of drilling machines or scales, since the manufacturing standards take into account the load on the metal. The maximum permissible load is indicated in the manufacturer's instructions;
  • shelving - equipment with this furniture is necessary for the location of materials, blanks or tools on it.The culture of production involves the storage of these accessories separately in each cell, so that when a need arises, you can quickly find them. Racks can be made with open shelves or doors at the request of the customer;
  • chairs - equipment of operator’s workplaces, engineering or other professions where the employee has to sit for a long time. The constructive solution of furniture is carried out in accordance with regulatory documents, while the main goal is to ensure comfortable working conditions;
  • safes and separate shelves - perform the task of storing material assets, are additionally equipped with internal or external locks, since access to persons should be limited;
  • mobile curbstones or carts. Necessary for moving small loads inside the production building. Designed for a specific carrying capacity and convenient to use.

Proper use of industrial furniture simplifies the productivity process and helps create comfortable conditions.

Materials of manufacture

For the production of industrial furniture, steel with high strength characteristics is used. The material is most often galvanized, with a sheet thickness of 1-2 mm.

The choice in favor of this material is due to the following factors:

  • the product is subjected to dynamic shock loads during operation, and this type of steel resists damage;
  • the strength of structural elements is ensured when heavy objects are placed on them;
  • reliable operation even under adverse environmental conditions;
  • affordability by price categories when choosing a material.

In this case, a polymer powder coating is preliminarily applied to the metal base, which helps to give aesthetics and other properties that provide strength during operation.The material used for shelves, walls and coatings is cold rolled steel sheet. Material is delivered to the manufacturer in the form of rolls.

Additionally, to give the design are used:

  • corners;
  • profile pipes;
  • fasteners (bolts, nuts, and others).

For the manufacture of a table for the performance of locksmith works, it is used:

  • metal corner;
  • metal sheet for countertops, 2 mm thick;
  • to connect bolts or nuts.

Chairs for equipping operator workstations are made of:

  • polyurethane;
  • electric conductive wheels;
  • chrome gas lift;
  • basics of aluminum.

Some chairs have a footrest. All metal components of the furniture are pre-coated with an anti-corrosion compound. Protection against possible effects of static electricity should also be provided. Industrial furniture made from appropriate materials is easy to wet.

Primary requirements

Furniture planned for operation at the factory must meet the requirements of labor protection and industrial safety, therefore, the mandatory moments in the manufacture should be:

  • the absence of small defects, such as burrs, sharp corners and edges, dents and hardened metal;
  • the coating should not emit harmful substances into the air of the working area;
  • in the manufacture should be taken into account antistatic coating;
  • the calculation of the shelves in cabinets or racks should be in the manufacturer's instructions, while the specified standard should not exceed the load on the cell;
  • After manufacturing, an external inspection of the furniture is carried out, and tests are carried out. The latter are carried out in specialized laboratories, while the specified load is greater than the norm.

Requirements during operation:

  • metal racks and cabinets used to store technological equipment, products and workpieces should be tested;
  • periodic checks for burrs, sharp edges and other defects;
  • for convenience, during operation, on racks or cabinets there should be an inscription on the maximum permissible load on one cell;
  • if the specifics of production require grounding of metal furniture, then the integrity of the grounding device is periodically checked.

Requirements for chairs:

  • obligatory adjustment of the seat height, armrests and the angle of the backrest to ensure comfortable working conditions;
  • timely performance checks and lubrication of mechanisms are determined based on the specifics of production.

The requirements of the standards are set out in the Rules on labor protection and state standards and apply to all enterprises located in the country.
