Fitness club locker room options, selection tips

Fitness club locker room options, selection tips

Owners of fitness centers, sports complexes and swimming pools know that functional and beautiful furniture is an essential part of corporate identity. Organically fit into the interior lockers for the fitness club’s locker rooms delight the eyes of customers, which to one degree or another affects the loyalty of visitors to the sports facility.

Appointments and Features

Cabinets for any gyms are designed to perform a single function - to store personal items. At the same time, clothes and shoes that remain in the closet should not wrinkle or spoil their appearance. Furniture for fitness clubs should:

  • to be durable;
  • easy to wash and, if necessary, easy to transport;
  • withstand the influence of the environment (high humidity, for example);
  • be reliable and durable, because the cabinet will have to serve a large number of people daily;
  • Ergonomically fit into space, sometimes quite minimal.

Locker rooms are made of durable materials that are resistant to mechanical damage. Metal lockers are perhaps the most popular option. They are light and reliable, but the choice of colors is limited - gray prevails. Standard models of metal cabinets can at any time be equipped with additional sections to increase volume, and a failed section is also easy to replace. Metal cabinets, as a rule, have ventilation openings, which is also a definite advantage. Furniture made of MDF or wood board is heavier and more massive, but the choice of fittings and colors for it is more diverse. Also, a print (for example, the gym logo) can be applied to the doors of such models. Moisture-resistant chipboard is used to protect against moisture; facades can be made of impact-resistant glass or metal.

Varieties of designs

Depending on the type of construction, locker rooms in fitness clubs can be:

  • single-section - as a rule, a rectangular cabinet with one section and one door. The options for internal equipment are diverse, the dimensions are compact. A great option for a fitness club, because it easily fits outerwear or sports equipment;
  • two-section - cabinets with two compartments, each of which closes individually. Suitable for gyms with limited space, because in a smaller area you can simultaneously store things of two clients. Usually equipped with a bar for clothes;
  • three-sectional - a compact cabinet divided into three sections. They are not able to accommodate a large volume of clothing, but it is a very suitable option in cases where large volume storage is not required;
  • modular - cabinets with an unlimited number of identical sections.Units of the same size, design and content are built depending on the size of the room (sequentially or on top of each other). Often a bench is placed in the locker room for modular cabinets, on which the modules are built;
  • L shaped - furniture with non-standard doors, the shape of which is two combined Latin letters L (one regular and one upside down). Functional and attractive option. Each door completely opens either the upper or lower part of the cabinet, which allows you not to open the entire cabinet if you need to put things for fitness only down or only up. Also, the doors can be originally painted, which will decorate the room, as well as allow to realize all kinds of design ideas.

If none of the above cabinets is suitable for changing rooms, you can always find a manufacturing company that will develop custom-made furniture.

Lock options

A high-quality castle ensures the safety of personal belongings in sports complexes with a large flow of people. Locks for lockers in locker rooms come in two types: mechanical and electronic. The latter are very popular, because you can use an individual client card and connect the lock to the general security system of the fitness club. The classification of mechanical and electronic locks is quite wide, but in the case of furniture for locker rooms, cylinder-type mechanical locks and electronic electromechanical locking devices are used.

The keys to the lockers are often lost, so you need to make sure that each locker has at least two keys, or even more.

There is an opinion that mechanical locks are outdated and less reliably protect personal items, however, they do not depend on power sources, which is an undoubted plus. If an electronic lock is installed on the lockers, then in the event of a power outage, all the locks will either be open or remain locked until the power source is restored. Both options are unacceptable for owners of fitness clubs, so manufacturers of electronic locks have developed a system that allows you to open a locker with a master key, but such systems are quite expensive. A mechanical lock can afford even the simplest gym, it lasts a long time, it works simply and clearly.

Interior fittings

Doors of a standard locker room locker open at an angle of 180 degrees. Filling single-door models and L-shaped lockers traditionally:

  • top shelf for headgear or small things;
  • a large middle compartment with a bar or hooks, can be divided into several sections for storing diverse clothes;
  • lower compartment for shoes.

Optionally, the cabinet can be supplemented by hooks or a mirror on the inside of the door, small drawers or a heated towel rail. In metal cabinets, the height of the shelves can be adjusted, and additional shelves are also easily installed. The filling of two and three-section cabinets is more restrained. The usual minimum is the crossbar or a few hooks.

The nuances of choice

When choosing furniture for locker rooms, first of all, it is worth evaluating the humidity in the room. If the fitness club has a pool or sauna, then it is better to prefer metal furniture, it will last longer. It is also worth considering the fact that the doors in the locker rooms are often scratched. The metal can be repainted with special paint, in cases with MDF or particleboard, you will have to think about how to hide the scratches. However, wooden furniture makes less noise and is easier to repair, while a specialist needs to repair a metal cabinet.
